Janis Burley Wilson is Vice President of Education & Community Engagement and Director at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. Since 2002, Janis has been at The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, where she has helped transform Pittsburgh’s arts landscape with programs like Showcase Noir, the Gallery Crawl and the Pittsburgh JazzLive International Festival, which has revitalized the local jazz scene and changed the game for many local musicians. A Pittsburgh native and Penn Hills High School graduate, Burley Wilson did undergraduate work at Pitt, attended Duquesne for graduate school and American University for post-graduate studies. Janis resides in Churchill with her two daughters and a son. Both of her daughters have participated in GirlGov as participants and as Leadership Circle members. Janis also designs internationally renowned hand-blocked millinery under the label Janis B. et Al. Her hats, coats and accessories have been featured in French Vogue, Essence, The New Yorker, Heart and Soul, and numerous newspapers. Her line is sold at Linda Bucci in Shadyside and Bendels in New York.
