Mary McGlohon is a Software Engineer at Google. Mary first joined Google in 2010 as a software engineer and developer on Google Shopping for 4 years, implementing new features for Shopping search. In 2015 she moved into a Site Reliability Engineering role, maintaining the operation of performance critical Ads systems. Mary is the technical lead of a multiteam software migration effort, including contributors across 3 sites (Pittsburgh, Mountain View, Dublin). Mary implemented reliability improvements for critical software systems at Google and designed/developed a system for detecting fraud in merchant reviews. Mary regularly writes and evaluates changes to search results rankings and has contributed software features in C++ and Java. Mary’s role at Google includes the responsibility to respond to production emergencies at all hours. When she is not at Google headquarters, Mary serves as the Charter Team Captain and Board of Directors Secretary for Steel City Roller Derby.  Mary has been an active athlete with Steel City Roller Derby since 2011 (skating under nom de guerre “Ada Bloodlace”). Mary has served on the Board of Directors since 2013. Mary has her PhD, in Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University. Her PhD Thesis was: Structural Analysis of Large Networks Observations and Applications. Mary received her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Tulsa in 2005.
