Tara Simmons: Chief Operating Officer

Tara is our Chief Operating Officer.  In this role, Tara is responsible for WGF’s operations, finance, human resources, and technology. She also manages our Crossroads Conference, outreach and communications efforts, and community relationships to increase visibility and awareness of WGF’s mission. Additionally, Tara serves as our in-house graphics guru, and manages our interns, consultants, and vendors.  Since joining WGF in 2008, Tara has been instrumental to developing and growing our GirlGov program, which has engaged over 500 local high school girls in civics, advocacy, and social justice.

Tara’s background is almost entirely in the nonprofit sector, and her professional experience includes project management, regional initiatives, grantmaking, knowledge management, and process development & implementation.  She is a past board member of the Three Rivers Community Foundation and Pittsburgh Young Professionals.

A native of Washington County, Tara recently relocated to Upper Saint Clair with her husband Greg and daughter Margot.  Their cats Beaker, Moe, and Maple graciously allow Tara and her family to live in the house.
