Sydney Altfather is the Communications & Community Engagement Manager at the Women and Girls Foundation, where she leads communications strategy, community partnerships, storytelling, digital media, and campaign development. Since joining WGF as a Communications Intern in 2023 and subsequently serving as Communications Associate, Altfather has continually expanded her impact across the organization’s programs, statewide coalitions, events, and advocacy initiatives.
Altfather graduated from Chatham University in 2025 with a double major in communications and women’s and gender studies, focusing on public relations, journalism, and women’s leadership. Her background in small business, journalism, and nonprofit communications has shaped her approach to storytelling—grounded in the belief that effective communication should inform, connect people directly to the work, and, whenever appropriate, make people smile.
In her role, Altfather focuses on finding creative ways to tell stories, bridge community relationships, and mobilize audiences. She is also known to work the occasional pun into a caption, believing the best way to make a message stick is often to have a little fun with it.
