For more than two decades, the Women and Girls Foundation has proudly advocated for justice — whether it be in the form of paid family and medical leave, pay equity, climate justice, civic education and engagement with our youth, LGBTQ+ rights, or reproductive freedom.

Our work centers and uplifts the most marginalized and vulnerable — recognizing that true equity cannot be achieved until everyone has a seat at the table. But we can’t do this work alone. As we enter the end-of-year giving season, we invite you to Give to Grow the Women and Girls Foundation

GIVE TO GROW!

GIVE TO EDUCATE: The Women and Girls Foundation’s award-winning GirlGov program brings civics education to middle and high school students from more than a dozen schools across the region. When you Give to Grow with a donation you support:

  • Nearly 50 registered GirlGov participants, 42% of whom are young people of color
  • Monthly field trips or volunteer opportunities
  • Approximately 16 hours of instruction and mentorship per student per month

GIVE TO ENGAGE: Community engagement is at the heart of what we do. Some of our recent engagement projects have included:

  • Picking up hundreds of pounds of trash through community service projects
  • Collecting hygiene products to support Hello Neighbor, a Pittsburgh-based immigrant/refugee resettlement agency
  • Volunteering at polling locations on Election Day
  • Contributing to community initiatives, including the Women’s Sports Advisory Committee, the Nonprofit Alliance for Women and Girls, the Pittsburgh 2050 Steering Committee, and the Just Film Series

GIVE TO EMPOWER: We are committed to initiatives that will break down barriers for women, girls, and gender-expansive individuals — to cultivate communities where they can thrive and be their authentic selves. Some ways that the WGF strives to do that include:

“Thanks to GirlGov, I found my voice. But perhaps most valuable was the realization that, despite my age, there are countless ways to create change in my community.”
