Deriece Harrington is a dedicated advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion. She has experience working with diverse industries, including minority business enterprises, non-profits, securities, higher education, healthcare and the political arena.
For the Women and Girls Foundation, her vision is to help self-identified women and girls see themselves working in the community and to help build the next generation of leaders, especially young people of color.
“As a board member of this organization, I am proud to have learned about the importance of WGF in the community and its ambitious efforts to lead and support the communities it serves,” Harrington said.
She emphasizes the significance of the GirlGov program and how it plays a crucial role in involving young people in the government and legislative process. She is determined to assist in supporting these rising leaders and motivating them to recognize themselves as an essential part of the community.
Harrington wants those unfamiliar with WGF and GirlGov to understand that the organization provides holistic support to the entire family unit. WGF uplifts, empowers and teaches all individuals to find their identity and become a voice for their community, helping them to thrive, she said.
“I am confident that this organization represents not just Southwest Pennsylvania but all of Pennsylvania. More organizations and community members must support WGF because of its impact on the community.”
