Nia Springer-Norris is a Pittsburgh native who now lives outside of Chicago, IL Although she moved in 2010, the Women and Girls Foundation of Greater Pittsburgh holds a very special place in her heart due to her grandmother, Cecile Springer’s role as a founding member of the organization. 

Nia is an independent journalist who has contributed to SUCCESS Magazine, Business Insider, Kirkus Reviews, and Next City, among other publications. When she is not writing, she currently teaches journalism and communication at Northern Illinois University. 

She is the owner of Springer Creative Associates, LLC where she provides copywriting and strategic marketing consulting services and a partner at Mmmm, Yes!, a Black womanist lifestyle brand created by artist Christina Springer. 

She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Eastern Oregon University and a Master of Arts in Communication Studies from Northern Illinois University.

Nia has three precocious children and a 100+ year old house and enjoys reading, live music, and the arts. She is currently working on a literary memoir.
